  • Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica in which meat is marinated with a hot, spicy mixture called jerk seasoning and then grilled or smoked.  The term "jerk" refers both to the seasoning blend and the cooking technique.  Jerk seasoning typically includes ingredients such as allspice (pimento), Scotch bonnet peppers, thyme, garlic, ginger, scallions (green onions), cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Ours is a blend of 20 herbs and spices.  This combination creates a distinctive, complex flavour that is herbaceous, peppery, citrusy and slightly sweet.  (See ingredients for full list).

  • Our jerk seasoning is an all-in-one mix designed for convenience. Traditionally, it’s added directly to pork or chicken, but it works just as well with other meats and vegetables. Simply marinate your choice of food for at least an hour to let the flavors fully develop. After marinating, cook it using your preferred method – we love barbecuing ours!

For detailed instructions, check the recipe on the back of the pack or visit our recipe page.

  • Traditionally paired with pork and chicken, our jerk seasoning is incredibly versatile. We’ve tested it and found that it also complements beef, lamb, seafood, and a variety of vegetables. Truly, there are no limits to what it can enhance!

  • No, absolutely not! We would never do that to you. We are committed to providing the fullest flavor in our meals, which means our seasoning is packed with the finest dried natural ingredients.

  • Yes, our jerk seasoning has been specially designed to contain none of the 14 allergens specified by UK law. If you have any other allergies, please check the ingredients list or feel free to contact us at hello@flavapacks.com.

  • We like to not use salt in our blends, allowing you to control the seasoning.  This approach enhances flavour retention by preventing the loss of liquids (and thus, flavour) during marination.

  • Our jerk seasoning mix, made from dehydrated herbs and spices, has a long shelf life. When stored in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, and resealed after each use, it can last up to 36 months. However, we know it won’t last that long once you try it!

  • It’s not recommended to freeze your jerk pack, as it is dehydrated and should be kept away from moisture, including environments like the fridge or freezer.

However, you can marinate some meat or vegetables with the jerk seasoning and then freeze them. This way, the flavours are preserved, and you can cook them later.

  • Yes, all the ingredients are just natural herbs and spices.
